Breaking up is one of the hardest
things in this life. Most people don't even want to think about
breaking up because the subject is just too painful. Just about
everyone has been through it but nobody wants to go through it again.
Breaking up requires a grieving process.
When you know that you have to break up with someone, you tend to
want to put it off for as long as possible. Both parties usually
know what is coming but it takes one of the partners in the relationship
to actually initiate the process. Nobody wants to be that person.
It's even more difficult to be the
one receiving the bad news (even if it's not really news).
You might be wondering if the relationship is really over or if
it can be saved. There are a few signs that you can look for.
Remember when you first got together?
You would do everything in your power to make sure that every waking
second was spent together. These days, it seems like you are spending
more and more time apart. Sure, it may seem that circumstances are
what is pulling you apart but in reality, you may just not really
be that in to each other anymore.
When you first got together, you
spent a great deal of time talking about your future (together).
These days, you spend most of your time together talking about your
daily duties, what's going on in the world, etc. You rarely ever
talk about your future anymore. Why do you think that is? It may
be that subconsciously, deep down you know that you probably won't
be together in the future.
When you first got together, you
were amazed by the fact that you rarely fought about anything. These
days, it seems like the smallest things can set off a full scale
war. Keep in mind that fighting is not a good thing. People who
are on the verge of breaking up may find that the fighting has been
escalating.
Another sign that a break up may
be in your near future is that you have stopped touching each other.
Sure, it is only natural that couples will not be fondling each
other in public like they did when they first got together but even
old married couples show affection from time to time. If there is
no longer any physical attraction in your relationship then the
touching may have stopped long ago.
Breaking up is hard to do but staying
together can be even more difficult. Some people just have a tough
time in knowing when the time has arrived. The sooner that you can
cut your ties with a bad relationship, the sooner you can get on
with the rest of your life.
This is not to say that your relationship
is not worth saving. You just need to be able to tell the difference
between a relationship that needs work and one that needs to be
abandoned all together.
